Mandy Halbot MSW, RSW

Mandy has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English and linguistics, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Memorial University. In addition, Mandy has a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU). Mandy is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with 9+ years of comprehensive social work experience across Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Mandy is experienced in working with individuals, families and communities suffering from severe and complex trauma; child abuse, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, race-based traumas, concurrent mental health and addictions disorders, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, and mood disorders.

Mandy’s counselling sessions are client-centered, and she uses a strengths-based approach to therapy. She engages a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Therapy Skills (Distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships) and narrative therapy. She believes in the fostering of positive self-regard and maintains a strong belief in the capacity of each individual as the expert in their own lives.

Mandy has experience assessing childhood sexual abuse survivors accounts and preparing clinical reports for court litigation processes on the behalf of victims of the Mount Cashel Orphanage in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She is compassionate and provides survivors with an active and empathetic listening approach necessary to process significant trauma.

Mandy has experience developing environmental scans, as well as conducting social work-related research at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and in program development in Indigenous communities in Labrador.

In her free time, Mandy enjoys playing ice hockey, practicing yoga, swimming, hiking, travelling and snowmobiling and is an advocate for healthy and active lifestyles as a pathway to wholistic health and well-being. She loves socializing with family and close friends and spending time outside in nature with her dog, Ella.

Brittany Lee Pye, MSW, RSW

Brittany is an Indigenous woman and a Registered Social Worker (RSW). She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work from Memorial University.  Brittany has worked extensively in the area of Mental Health and Addictions. She has comprehensive experience in working with individuals with severe and complex mental illness, concurrent disorders, complex trauma, personality disorders, and mood disorders, to name a few. She has experience working with individuals, families, and group, as well as mentoring, consulting, and training other health professionals.

Brittany utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches in her practice, but the focus of her work is always centred on building strong and caring relationships with clients. Brittany has a passion for blending contemporary mental health best practices with Indigenous knowledge and healing. She also strives to revitalize and rediscover her Mi’kmaq culture through ceremony, teaching, community connections, and embracing cultural practices for her own self-care and spiritual growth.

When she is not working, Brittany loves to spend her time travelling. To date, she has been to over 20 different countries. When she isn’t travelling, she spends her free time either cuddled up at home with her two chihuahuas or spending time in nature by kayaking, camping, fishing, and so on! Brittany is known for her sense of humour, friendliness, and easy going nature.
